# Connect ChatGPT

> Add Cortex as a custom connector in ChatGPT

  This guide covers ChatGPT's custom connector support, which is available on some ChatGPT plans and may differ by account. If a step does not match what you see, your plan may not yet offer custom MCP connectors.

ChatGPT can connect to Cortex as a custom connector, giving it the ability to search your knowledge and recall it in conversation.

## What you need

* A Cortex account.
* A ChatGPT plan that supports adding custom connectors.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Copy your workspace's connection URL">
    In Cortex, open any brain's **Connect** page. Copy the connection URL (the same one the claude.ai and generic tabs show): `https://api.oncortex.ai/t/your-workspace-id/mcp`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add it as a connector in ChatGPT">
    In ChatGPT's settings, find connectors, and add a custom connector using the Cortex URL. Cortex speaks the standard Model Context Protocol over a web connection, so ChatGPT can discover how to sign in on its own.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve the connection">
    ChatGPT sends you to Cortex to approve. The approval screen names the workspace and shows that the connector will act as you. Confirm, and the connector is live.

  <Step title="Test it">
    Ask ChatGPT to use the connector: *"Search my Cortex brains and tell me what's there."*

## Good to know

* One connection covers every brain you can access in the workspace, at the roles you hold; results say which brain they came from.
* Manage or revoke it from **Connected Agents** on the Connect page.
