Its members, and it starts with exactly one: you. Nobody can open, search or connect to a brain they are not a member of, and nothing anyone else does adds them to yours. Capture freely; to share something from it, promote that specific thing to a shared brain, or add a member if you want to share the whole brain.
One per workspace. A connection acts as you, so through it your agent reaches every brain you can access, at the role you hold on each, checked live on every call. Grants you gain or lose apply to your agents immediately, with nothing to reconnect. More on connections.
It always knows which brain is which: search results say which brain they came from, and every write names its destination. The agent can only write where you can write, so a brain you keep to yourself stays yours whatever it does. Clear brain names and descriptions make its choices even more reliable. Not in a partitioned brain. Every page write is checked against the client folders that exist, and a write under a client that does not exist, or one that is archived, is refused with the list of clients that do. An item’s client is decided when it arrives, from what the sender said or from the attendee emails, and an item nobody could place waits as “needs a client” rather than being filed on a guess. Markdown, plain text, PDF, Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx), up to 50 MB each. Cortex extracts the text so it becomes searchable. More on uploading.
Only in the mode you choose. Each brain has a filing mode: Off (nothing automatic), Suggest (Cortex drafts the pages, you approve with one click), or Automatic (confident filings, with anything uncertain parked as a ready-drafted proposal for your review). Your work brain starts on Automatic; new shared brains start on Suggest. In every mode, anything Cortex is unsure about waits for you.
Yes. Automatic filing has a daily allowance, so it works through your inbox steadily rather than in an uncontrolled burst. If there is more than a day’s worth, it continues the next day.
Nothing is lost. Every page keeps its full version history, so you can always look back at what it said before an edit. More on pages.
Your pages are readable text and yours to keep. A brain’s Admin (or a workspace admin) can download the whole brain as a zip of its pages from the API, you can delete pages and brains you own, and deleting your account removes your data. For anything else, get in touch.
Search understands meaning, not just keywords, so a plain-language question finds the pages that are actually about it even when they are worded differently. More on recall.
